Rawrocks.com is relaunching as GowerJewellery!
Hi I am Teresa Chambers, founder and jewellery designer for Rawrocks.com. I just thought it was about time I introduced myself properly as I embark on the next stage of my business.
Rawrocks started when I spent several years living back in my home county of Cornwall. While I was there I founded Newagematters Ltd and Rawrocks.com - a website devoted to my own handmade gold and silver gemstone jewellery, and ethical gifts. In 2009 I decided it was time for a change and moved to Swansea, on the edge of the beautiful Gower peninsula in South Wales. I have loved every minute so far!
Rawrocks has been with me for several years as part of my old company, Newagematters Ltd. Newagematters was a concept taken from the mystical, yoga, faitrade & eco magazines I have worked for as a Promotions Consultant for the past 9 years. I decided to try to take the elements of the alternative lifestyle magazines on the market and sell all the products we were reading about. My original aim was to create an ethical supermarket. It was a good concept but I was just one single mum in Cornwall with a small budget, and eventually several competitors and major supermarkets caught up to this new wave of ethical consumer and started bringing the brands to their shelves. That's great for the consumer of course, but I needed to move on - let go of some aspects of my dream - and push forward. As I already have a degree in Drama and Art, I taught myself jewellery making with gemstones and precious metals, and I continued my training as a silversmith with various courses at the Mid Cornwall School of Jewellery, Victoria Sewart's gallery and workshop in Plymouth, and now at Gower College.
Now I am going to relaunch as GowerJewellery and try my hand at selling wholesale to get my brand recognised across the country in as many gift shops and jewellery boutiques as possible. I am always eager to hear advice or share experience so please get in touch if you anything to add on this topic or if you are a shop interested in stocking rawrocks jewellery.
